Princess Unit

Standard

If it involves princesses, lady P will do the work! I found an excellent printable pack about princesses from 1plus1plus1equals1. I printed most of the pack and we are slowly making our way through it. Today we did ‘princess graphing’. Lady P and I took turns rolling the paper die, then we coloured in a block on the graph. We played until one picture got to 10 on the graph. I showed her how to go up each bar, then across to the number to see how many each picture received. This came quite naturally to her. After, she wrote the numbers underneath the picture. She doesn’t like doing this because she isn’t confident at writing her numbers. But I used the number poem pages from communication4all and she really likes the poems. She always requests them when we do our numbers.

After we did this sheet, she just wanted to play so we read The Frog Princess from an anthology of princess stories we got from the library and acted it out with her stuffed animals.

Then S began to cry upstairs (she was supposed to be napping) so we played catch the bear in the front room! (I don’t recommend this!). Lady P didn’t want to do much ‘work’ today so we basically just played. I usually let her lead right now as I want learning to be fun and on her terms.

Just Another Day

Standard

Today we started our day cleaning the house (the girls helped) then we went to a singing group for S (it was for Lady P too but she was the oldest there).

S loves singing and dancing. She is obsessed with Music Man (which she calls Pia Pia piano) and Wind the Bobbin. The singing group was perfect for her and on Fridays while Lady P is in nursery, I’m taking her to a 45 minute session, called Jo Jingles, which S will love! Read the rest of this entry
